Hello everyone! I decided to add a new category to my blog entitled, “Journal.” Here I want to be more open with my life and experiences, especially since I am in college. I want to be able to remember important events and look back on my struggles and how I’ve overcome them.
I am currently in my second week of fall quarter and I am already struggling to manage my academics, work, my internship, and my social life. I am usually quite good at handling my stress and being organized, but I feel as though I might have but a little too much on my plate.
Regardless of how I feel, this is my reality and I knew that this quarter was going to be extremely busy and stressful going into it. When I started this quarter, I made a very conscious decision to always be ahead on my academics this quarter to save me stress in the future. I can happily say that I haven’t fallen behind yet and am two weeks ahead. I mean, this is only week two so I’ll have to wait and see what the outcome is, but I am optimistic.
In addition to my school work, I also have my job and internship to work on. I am so grateful that I have a student job and that my boss is the kindest person I have ever worked with. She understands me and gives me time off when I need it. In regards to my internship, I am struggling to put in the correct amount of time in order to reach my 400 hour requirement. I love what I am doing and I love what I am learning, but with all my other obligations it can be quite difficult to keep up. The photo below is of myself the first time I visited a job site with my internship. I wish that I took more pictures, and that those pictures were of higher quality. But, alas, this is the only one I took LOL.
It is also rush week for my sorority which means that I have an event every single night. Additionally, I am the head of the rush department so I have many logistical things to assess and people to watch over. Preparing for rush week has been a big struggle and has taken lots of time, but I know that it will pay off. I’m so excited to meet the new girls and see who will enter our sisterhood. The house has been working so hard to make this a good rush and I am so proud. I can’t wait!
My friends and family always ask me how I manage everything that I do and how I keep myself calm. Life is stressful, but I am managing it. I know my limits and I know how hard I can work and when I need to take a break. Trust me, I didn’t learn these things overnight… it was a trial and error process.
I have spent countless nights crying myself to sleep over stress or simply not doing work because I was so stressed out. I’ve learned to prioritize and how to keep myself organized in order to be the best me. I know that I can do it, and I believe in myself. One of my favorite ways to destress is by spending time with my kitten, Soju. He is almost 6 months old now (he will be in 9 days) and I can’t help but tear up at the fact that my little baby is growing up haha.
If you are struggling with having a bunch of different things on your plate at one time, trust me, it’s going to be okay. Pace yourself and don’t push yourself too hard. You got this! If you need an ear to listen or some advice, I am always here. I would love to talk to you all and get to know you on a more personal level.
Until next time!
